Characterization of Waste Sludge Pigment from Production of ZnCl2

چکیده

This study is focused on the treatment of waste sludge from a zinc chloride production in order to prepare iron-rich pigments usable for glazes. In galvanizing plants, yellow containing significant amount ZnO, Cl, and Fe2O3, formed. raw cannot be used as pigment glaze. Therefore, three methods treating this material were proposed: (a) washing with H2O, (b) calcination at 180 °C by (c) 900 H2O. These helped reduce Zn Cl content up 97%. According X-ray fluorescence analysis percentage Fe2O3 increased ~41% ~98%. power diffraction confirmed formation α-Fe2O3 (hematite) prepared. Scanning electron microscopy Energy dispersive showed clusters rounded particles, also change size particles after was observed. Particle size, specific surface area, density measurements together thermogravimetric differential thermal analyses performed. Pigments prepared added transparent glaze amounts 1, 5, 10, 15 wt.%. Pigment-containing glazes applied spraying fired ceramic tiles then 1060 °C. Color determined (Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage) CIE L*a*b* coordinates colorless, light brown shades, brown-red, brown-yellow, deep red-brown. Comparison colors using commercial Waste can an alternative products.

Production of bacterial cellulose and enzyme from waste fiber sludge

BACKGROUND Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a highly crystalline and mechanically stable nanopolymer, which has excellent potential as a material in many novel applications, especially if it can be produced in large amounts from an inexpensive feedstock. Waste fiber sludge, a residue with little or no value, originates from pulp mills and lignocellulosic biorefineries. A high cellulose and low ligni...

Biofuel Production from Biomasses, Municipal Solid Waste and Sewage Sludge

The aim of this research line is to study and optimize the production of biofuels through the anaerobic digestion (AD) of organic waste (biohydrogen and biomethane) and the exploitation of lipid-rich biomasses and waste matrices (biodiesel). The research on anaerobic digestion has the following goals: a) the study of the biomethanization of unconventional waste matrices, such as algae, municipa...

Effect of Sludge Pre-Treatment Techniques on the Biogas Production from Waste Activated Sludge

Introduction There is a significant and inevitable fact in Turkey which is the “sludge problem” generated from the wastewater treatment plants. There are many sludge disposal techniques currently applied in Turkey such as incineration, landfilling, composting, etc.; but the disposal of sludge with those conventional methods is difficult and expensive, often requiring over 50 per cent of the ope...

Production of artificial stone slabs using waste granite and marble stone sludge samples

In this work, the waste stone sludge obtained from the granite and marble stone processing factories was used for the manufacture of artificial stones using vibratory compaction in a vacuum environment. The results obtained showed that water absorption and density increased, and the flexure, compressive, and tensile strengths decreased with increase in the content of the waste stone sludge. The...

Production and characterization of chitosan from shrimp waste

Chitosan has been produced from shrimp waste by chemical method involving demineralization, deproteinization and deacetylation. The quality of chitosan depends on the conditions of the chemical extraction process. The results showed that 3% HCI and 4% NaOH were suitable concentration for demineralization and deproteinization, respectively at ambient temperature (28±2 o C). Chitosan with a high ...
